A free silent disco is coming to Majura Park Shopping Center and could there be a better-sounding school holiday activity?

Wanting some school holiday fun that’s indoors, free and—best of all—quiet? Silent Disco ‘Beats by Majura Park Shopping Centre’ is sure to hit the right note!

A disco with a twist, ‘Beats by Majura Park Shopping Centre’ will use wireless headphones to create a free silent disco for primary-aged children where complaints of ‘too loud’ and ‘I don’t like this song’ are a thing of the past. Each little dancer can adjust the volume and choose between three different playlists while they dance your heart out.

“Three times more people dance, because it’s three times the choice of music,” explains Party Higher’s Paul Rosenberg, who fell in love with silent records at a festival.

“The fact that I could change channels and listen to the music I preferred, and adjust my volume, and not have to yell over blaring music. I thought it was too good to be just once a year at a festival.”

Since then, Party Higher has run more than 5,000 silent records, and it’s Canberra kids’ turn to get their boogie on from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday 4 to Friday 8 July at Majura Park Shopping Centre. It’s a first-in-best-dressed COVID-friendly occasion, with 30 people allowed in at any time, so make sure your young people wear their comfiest dancing shoes.

“We’ve created this successful formula combining technology, music, dance and games,” explains Paul.

However, if the line to the disco is looking a little daunting you will be jazzed with everything else Majura Park has to offer, with Flip Out just around the corner and Lollipop’s Playland & Café offering face painting, treasure hunts, rock painting and more during the school holidays.

Parents and carers will have a waiting space set aside for them at the disco—or better yet, get on the dance floor, get your shimmy on and show the young ones how it’s done!

After you’ve given it your all on the dance floor, restore those energy levels with a delicious drink and scrumptious snack. Thankfully you won’t have to go far with a bunch of brilliant coffee shops in the Majura Park Shopping Centre.
