Making its debut last summer, the promenade restricts the entertainment district — from Smithe to Helmcken streets — to pedestrians from 1 to 7 pm every Saturday and Sunday.

Along with opening the streets to walkers, the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (DVBIA) is bringing live music, street entertainers, patio seating, art and open-air markets. Daily prizes from downtown businesses will also be awarded.

“The Granville Promenade aims to connect the community and downtown businesses to celebrate, rejuvenate and reimagine downtown Vancouver’s most historic street,” says Nolan Marshall III, the president and CEO of the DVBIA. “Events like these are critical for the GED’s future and the city’s economic growth.”
