A man has died in a car crash in a remote area near the Northern Territory and Queensland border.
In a statement this afternoon, police said the two-vehicle crash had happened on Savannah Way in Calvert, about 170 kilometers south-east of Borroloola, at about 1pm today.
The man died at the scene.
Police said officers from Borroloola were at the crash site and had declared it a crime scene.
The road has been closed and motorists have been warned to expect significant delays.
Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Unit would arrive at the site tomorrow, police said.
Senior Detective Sergeant Brendan Lindner said police were “working to repatriate the deceased.”
