McDavitt Promoted to Assistant AD for Sports Medicine; Adds Wright and Heyburn as Assistant Athletic Trainers

HOBOKEN, NJ (September 2, 2022) – Stevens Institute of Technology Director of Athletics Russel Rogers announced Friday that Allie McDavitt has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. She was previously elevated to Associate Head Athletic Trainer earlier this year.

Most importantly, Allie has clearly earned the admiration and respect of our student-athletes and it is evident how much she cares about her work. I could not be more pleased that we are able to reward someone who is so well serving. I look forward to working with Allie and supporting the efforts of our sports medicine staff in any way possible!”

McDavitt first arrived on Castle Point in January of 2017 as an assistant athletic trainer, serving as the primary contact for men’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s fencing and women’s lacrosse. Among her many responsibilities de ella, McDavitt provides management and medical care coverage for her sports de ella, while also providing treatment and executing rehabilitation plans for the entire student-athlete population. Additionally, McDavitt works closely with team physicians and the Strength & Conditioning staff to develop plans and programs for return to play and injury prevention.

Congruent to her sport assignments and daily direct care of Stevens’ student-athletes, McDavitt has been instrumental in the athletic department’s first aid, CPR and AED programs. She is responsible for scheduling and implementing all training sessions, while also maintaining oversight of the department’s certifications.

McDavitt arrived in Hoboken after a two-and-a-half year-stint at the College of William & Mary, where she worked exclusively with the department’s women’s gymnastics and men’s soccer teams. During her tenure with the Tribe, McDavitt managed all evaluations, treatments and rehabilitation for her assigned teams. McDavitt was also charged with monitoring time loss data to adjust training or implement preventative programs.

Prior to her time in Williamsburg, McDavitt completed a graduate assistantship as an athletic trainer at Bowling Green State University, where she worked with the Falcons’ women’s gymnastics team, men’s cross country and women’s cross country. McDavitt also spent a year as a certified intern athletic trainer at The Ohio State University.

McDavitt completed her undergraduate degree in athletic training at the University of Pittsburgh in 2013, working with West Mifflin High School and Pittsburgh’s baseball, track and field, and football teams. She earned her graduate degree in Sports Administration from Bowling Green in 2016.

Additionally, McDavitt announced the hiring of Brianna Wright and Jesse Heyburn as Assistant Athletic Trainers. Most recently, Wright spent two years as an assistant athletic trainer at Eastern University, while Heyburn just completed a stint as a graduate athletic training student at Rowan University.

Wright will serve as the primarily athletic trainer for field hockey, men’s and women’s swimming and men’s lacrosse. Heyburn will serve as the primary athletic trainer for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field and softball.

Wright earned her bachelor of science in athletic training with a minor in public health from Montclair State University in 2016 before earning her master of science in sport and exercise science from the University of Northern Colorado in 2019. Heyburn completed her master of science degree in athletic training from Rowan earlier this year.
