Pell City woman allegedly drunk and using phone during deadly wreck held on $1.5 million bond

A Pell City woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a January traffic death.

Kelsey Yvonne Crow, 31, is charged in the Jan. 6 death of 55-year-old Jimmy Wade Rich of Riverside.

According to indictments made public Thursday, a St. Clair County grand jury indicted Crow on Jan. 22 on charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and reckless murder.

Two of the charges are felonies, and the other is a misdemeanor.

The crash happened on Cogswell Road in Pell City.

Pell City police Lt. Jonathan Sweeney said Crow is believed to have been intoxicated and distracted by a cell phone at the time of the wreck.

Charging documents state Crow was under the influence when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck Rich’s vehicle.

Crow was booked into the St. Clair County Jail in Ashville just before 8 am Thursday. Her bond of hers is set at $1.5 million bond.

Her attorney, David Luker, has filed a motion for a bond reduction stating that Crow has a full-time job and is a divorced mother of two.

Wade left behind a son and two daughters.
