Port Coquitlam teen dead in Vancouver 13 months after they first went missing

Vancouver police are taking lead on the case into Noelle “Ellie” O’Soup’s death. They went missing more than a year ago.

A Port Coquitlam teen that hadn’t been seen or heard for more than 13 months has died.

Noelle “Ellie” O’Soup was first reported missing to Coquitlam RCMP on May 12, 2021 — the same day of their last known sighting when they left home without permission.

O’Soup was found dead in Vancouver, spokesperson Cpl. Paige Kuz explains in a statement today (June 22). Details are where and when they were located are not known at this time.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is now taking lead on the case into the 14-year-old’s death.

“The Coquitlam RCMP offer their deepest condolences to the family and friends and thank the public for their assistance with the investigation,” adds Kuz, noting the RCMP will be assisting with the VPD’s investigation.

O’Soup left their Tri-City home around 6:30 pm on May 12, 2021, and was 13 at the time the public was informed of the missing person’s case.

In earlier inquiries, the Tri City News was told O’Soup was likely trying to avoid officers and didn’t want to have their well-being checked, but police said they wanted to ensure the teen’s safety.

O’Soup was also known to frequent Vancouver.
