The heart of live music and arts in St Kilda, The Espy is a bastion of live music in Melbourne’s south.
Situated on the St Kilda foreshore, overlooking both the bay and Catani Gardens, this laid-back hangout is unleashing a huge new line-up of gigs this month, revamping itself into a premier destination for live music. Putting on a mix of free and paid gigs, as well as an open mic every Tuesday, they’re showing everything and anything from intimate jazz to heavy post punk.

Tomorrow night, Melbourne based four piece garage punk / pub rock band You Legends play live at The Espy with support from Frontside Backsides. A free gig hosted in the basement of The Espy, its sponsored by Young Henrys.
Electric Mary are playing this Friday, a classic rock band that has supported the likes of Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Glenn Hughes.
On Sundays, they’re hosting Sunday Blues, a weekly rotation of the best local blues, roots and R&B in Melbourne. Another free gig in The Espy basement, catch the Kid James Trio – headlined by 19 year old ‘Kid’ James Schembri, who plays authentic Rockabilly music just like it was performed by teenagers in the ’50s.
Ian Ball and Ben Ottewell from the English band Gomez take to the stage for an intimate set, marking their first performance back in Australia as a duo. Performing on June 2, don’t miss this unparalleled evening of uncontested, oxymoronic, sonic beauty. Additionally, Australia’s legendary band X are coming back to The Espy on June 3 for a killer show.
