Two Decades of Art Gallery Cinema

what do mad max, Return and get-out have in common? They’re all very good films, but that’s not quite it. Each of these movies have played to a rapturous reception at the Art Gallery of NSW’s cinema, and will be revisited as part of its 22nd birthday celebrations.

Feeling 22 is a curated festival of 30 films from the last 22 years of the Art Gallery’s cinema program. The program spans across feature films, documentaries and shorts from across the world, looking at the directors like Bong Joon-ho, Jordan Peele, Lynne Ramsay and Paul Thomas Anderson, who have defined the cinema of the new millennium.

Expect to see a mix of genres: revisionist westerns, neo-noir and the latest films by exciting contemporary directors. Get ready to discover new favorites and finally catch the classics you missed the first time, on the big screen.

The screenings will run from now until October and admission to the 340-seat theater is free, but pre-booking your tickets is strongly recommended
