Winter returning to Ottawa with mix of snow and rain forecast

Environment Canada says rain will likely transition to snow before Tuesday morning and continue into the afternoon.

While we are almost a full month into spring, it’s going to feel more like winter to kick off the week in Ottawa.

Environment Canada is forecasting as nice start for Monday, April 18 with sunshine changing to a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon and a high of 8 C, but a mix of snow and rain is expected to move in during the evening hours.

The weather agency says rain will begin in the evening and likely to change into snow before Tuesday morning, with 2-4 cm expected.

The snow is forecast to continue Tuesday with another 5 cm expected before transitioning to rain in the afternoon. The rain will continue into the evening with a chance of a few flurries possible Tuesday night.

There is good news — warmer weather is on the horizon.

The skies are forecast to clear Wednesday with a high 10 C, and by Sunday, we can expect a high around 16 C.
